Why we started Le Petit Investisseur
Before talking about accounts and ETFs: where this site comes from, who writes it, and the rules we hold ourselves to.
Where we come from
It all began with a conversation between friends, on a beach on the Basque coast: “I’d like to invest, but where do I start?” Taking stock, we stumbled on a simple mistake that costs money every year. The right information exists, but it’s scattered, or used as bait to sell a course or a book. So we decided to gather it here, freely available, and to prove ourselves with content rather than promises.
Whether you start from zero or from several thousand euros, the first base camp is the same.
Who we are

Our principles
-
01
No commissions
We sell no courses and no financial products. The books, accounts and brokers we mention come with no affiliate link: we earn nothing. No ads today; if there ever are, they will be clearly labeled.
-
02
No advice
No recommendation to buy or sell on the stock market. The decision stays yours.
-
03
No real time
One update a day, after the close. Intraday noise doesn’t help you decide.
-
04
Risks, always
Every method comes with its limits: possible losses, fees, taxes. No promise of returns.
-
05
Visible sources
Every indicator shows its source, method and date.
Next camp: The accounts for investing
Livret A, PEA, life insurance, PER, securities account: what each one is for, how its gains are taxed, and where to open it.
